We are currently recruiting for a Water Treatment Company that is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead and develop their water hygiene and treatment operations.
This is a hands-on, all-encompassing role combining operations management, technical delivery, and business development, ideal for someone with a strong background in water hygiene and Water Treatment
The Role
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business, ensuring operational efficiency, service excellence, and continued growth.
This position will suit an experienced professional who can balance office leadership, field support, and commercial input, while still remaining technically involved when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Team Management
- Overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the business
- Managing the office function, including scheduling and coordination of works
- Leading and supporting field teams including:
- Legionella Risk Assessors
- Water Hygiene Technicians
- Cleaning Operatives
- Ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards
- Technical & Field Involvement
- Carrying out Legionella Risk Assessments as required
- Supporting and overseeing cooling tower works, including:
- Monthly chemistry analysis and sampling
- System maintenance, upgrades, and repairs
- Installation of new water treatment systems
- Providing technical guidance across water hygiene and treatment services
- Sales & Business Development
- Supporting and driving business growth through client engagement
- Identifying new opportunities and expanding existing accounts
- Assisting with proposals, tenders, and client relationships
Technical Knowledge & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG274 Parts 1, 2 & 3
- Proven experience within cooling tower water treatment and associated equipment
- Good understanding of closed system testing in line with BSRIA BG50
- Background in water hygiene, water treatment, or environmental services
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a senior/management role (e.g. Operations Manager, Contracts Manager, or similar)
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Commercial awareness with the ability to contribute to business growth
- Hands-on approach with willingness to remain technically involved
- Excellent communication and team management ability
Package
- Basic salary £45,000 – £50,000
