This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced water treatment professional to step into a Lead Service Engineer position and play a key part in the continued growth and technical excellence of the Water Consultancy & Equipment team. You will work across a wide range of water treatment systems, supporting both operational delivery and team development, while representing the organisation with professionalism and pride.
The position requires someone who can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, with regular travel to client sites forming a core part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Servicing & Maintenance
- Service and maintain a full range of water treatment equipment, including water softeners, reverse osmosis units, ozone systems, side‑stream filtration, UV units, and dosing systems (minimum 5 years’ relevant experience required).
Technical Fault Resolution
- Diagnose complex technical issues and implement effective remedial actions to ensure optimal system performance.
Project Leadership
- Lead installation projects from planning through to completion, ensuring high standards of delivery and client satisfaction.
Procedure & Process Development
- Work with the Operations Manager to develop and refine service procedures for all manufactured and supported equipment.
- Contribute to operational improvements, including report redesign and workflow optimisation.
Technical Expertise & Support
- Act as the primary technical contact for enquiries relating to the organisation’s water treatment product portfolio.
Team Development & Performance
- Support the creation and maintenance of an engineer competency matrix.
- Deliver structured training programmes for new engineers on servicing and maintenance protocols.
- Monitor engineer performance and coordinate internal and external training to drive continuous improvement.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures across all working environments.
Client Site Management
- Build in‑depth knowledge of major client sites and develop detailed service procedures to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.
Travel Requirements
- Flexibility to travel, including occasional overnight stays and weekend work, depending on operational needs.
About You
You will bring:
- 3+ years’ experience servicing water treatment equipment (softeners, RO, ozone, UV, dosing systems).
- Strong technical problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills.
- Experience leading installation projects and supporting team development.
- Excellent communication skills for technical support and training delivery.
- Ability to develop procedures, documentation, and structured processes.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in industrial environments.
- A customer‑focused approach with strong relationship‑building skills.
- Flexibility to travel and adapt to operational demands.

About the Water Consultancy & Equipment Team
The Water Consultancy team delivers statutory water hygiene services, chemical and microbiological analysis, and compliance support across systems such as cooling towers, domestic water systems, and closed heating/chilled circuits.
The Water Equipment Engineering team designs and manufactures equipment in‑house, supported by CAD schematics and Revit models, supplying clients with reverse osmosis units, water softeners, filtration systems, and more. The organisation operates to BIM Level 2 compliance.
