Our client is a specialist water treatment company with the experience and expertise in handling and managing the complexities of water treatment. The customer base includes hospitality, leisure, manufacturing, water treatment and engineering sectors across the country

They are now looking to recruit a motivated and experienced operations and compliance officer to guarantee that our business processes and transactions follow all relevant legal and internal guidelines. As the Operations and Compliance Office you will manage a team ensuring they are compliant and competent. The position is mainly office based and you will need to come from a strong technical water treatment and operations background.

 

JOB CONTEXT

The Operations and Compliance Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day oversight, development and management of quality systems, contract compliance and operational business processes. The role is responsible for overseeing interventions throughout the programming cycle and managing a team to ensure compliance with the company’s established policies, procedures, and strategy.

A strong operational background in the water treatment and excellent project management skills are essential to be able to implement new operations and logistics processes and procedures and support our culture of continuous improvement.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will be expected to share information and participate in discussions to support organisational development and communications.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor and manage refinements and improvements to our business processes aimed at streamlining activities and driving up performance and quality
  2. Oversee the management of engineers and ensure compliant and competent
  3. Review contract compliance ensuring contract conditions are being tracked and met, working with senior managers on contract compliance and consistency.
  4. Day to day operational management of all site’s remedial works,
  5. Manage the water treatment/water hygiene services.
  6. Recruitment and carry out assessment of training needs of engineers and conduct annual

appraisals of engineers

  1. Work in conjunction with the salesperson preparing quotes and tenders.
  2. Act as a point of reference for queries on major client contracts and contractual procedures and ensure contract compliance and quality standards are maintained.
  3. Act as main point of contact for information and issue resolution for all operational quality and contract compliance related issues
  4. Build and maintain good relationship with clients from all levels.
  5. Maintain quality management systems based on existing business process to meet ISO standards, including the integration and accreditation of 14001 and 19001 certifications.
  6. Ensure coherence and consistency of reporting, information management, budgeting and other key business systems and processes such a travel security and procurement
  7. Support, advise and train the operational team/engineers with respect to company policies and procedures and security management
  8. Manage the company’s contract approval process and the contracts database.
  9. Ensure subcontracts and consultancy agreements with third party suppliers meet the stipulated terms and conditions of each client contract and ensure contractual compliance throughout implementation of the assignment.
  10. Assess company operations to determine compliance risk.
  11. Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes.
  12. Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential:

  • Experience within the water industry and L8 is required
  • Previous experience and knowledge of water treatment Health & Safety, processes, RAMS and scheduling.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of operations, including experience of setting up and managing contract compliance and quality systems and processes
  • Demonstrable experience of leading teams and developing a culture of continuous improvement
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and online management systems
  • Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
  • Experience of creating, implementing, auditing, and analysing standard operating procedures.
  • Proven ability to operate in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of using own initiative, with a proactive and problem-solving attitude.

Desirable:

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of implementing ISO 9001 standards
