We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist water treatment company renowned for its expertise in managing complex water hygiene and treatment solutions. They are now seeking a dynamic Field-Based Operations Manager to lead a diverse team and drive operational excellence across the UK.

About the Role

This field-based position involves national travel and hands-on leadership of a multidisciplinary team, including:

  • Legionella Risk Assessors
  • Remedial Engineers
  • Chemical Technicians and Blenders
  • Office-based Administrator

 

You’ll oversee technical operations, ensure contract compliance, and implement process improvements that support the company’s culture of continuous development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage daily work programmes for water treatment and hygiene engineers
  • Ensure all work is compliant, competent, and aligned with contract requirements
  • Conduct training needs assessments and annual appraisals for engineering staff
  • Collaborate with Account and Sales Managers to prepare competitive quotes and tenders
  • Serve as a key point of contact for major client contracts and operational queries
  • Maintain high standards of quality and contract compliance across all projects
  • Resolve operational issues and ensure timely communication with internal teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at all levels

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ operational management experience in the water industry
  • In-depth knowledge of L8 guidelines and contract compliance systems
  • Strong technical understanding of water treatment and hygiene processes
  • Proven experience with Health & Safety protocols, RAMS, SOPs, and scheduling
  • Demonstrated leadership in team development and continuous improvement
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Financial awareness and experience with reporting and budgeting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online management platforms
