Our client, an established and growing Water Hygiene and Water Treatment company, is looking to recruit an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer / Remedial Plumber to cover commercial and industrial contracts throughout London and the surrounding areas.
This is a varied position combining routine Water Hygiene and Legionella compliance duties with hands-on plumbing and remedial works. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring clients' water systems remain safe, compliant and well maintained in accordance with ACoP L8 and HSG274 Parts 1, 2 & 3.
The Role
- You will be responsible for a mixture of Water Hygiene monitoring, cleaning and disinfection and remedial plumbing works, including:
- Hot and cold water temperature monitoring
- Water sampling in accordance with Legionella control programmes
- Cold Water Storage Tank inspections and condition surveys
- Cold Water Storage Tank cleaning and chlorination
- Water system cleaning and disinfection
- TMV servicing, maintenance and fail-safe testing
- Showerhead cleaning, descaling and disinfection
- Flushing of infrequently used outlets
- Identification and rectification of water system non-conformances
- Dead-leg removal
- Pipework alterations
- Valve replacements
- TMV installation and replacement
- General plumbing repairs associated with Water Hygiene compliance
- Identifying system risks and recommending appropriate corrective actions
- Completing site logbooks and digital service reports
- Ensuring works comply with ACoP L8 and HSG274
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Water Hygiene Engineer / Technician
- Practical experience carrying out remedial plumbing works
- Good working knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG274 Parts 1, 2 & 3
- Experience with tank inspections, cleaning and disinfection
- Experience carrying out temperature monitoring and TMV servicing
- Good understanding of domestic hot and cold water systems
- Strong practical and fault-finding skills
- Good communication and customer-facing ability
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel throughout London and surrounding areas
- NVQ / City & Guilds Plumbing qualification would be advantageous
- Water Hygiene / Legionella qualifications would also be beneficial
