Party Wall Surveyor, Manchester based - NEW opportunity to join a wider team split between 2 offices who have a reputation for delivering creative solutions on some of the most prestigious developments in the UK and around the world. 

Your primary role will be to assist with fulfilling the responsibilities under the Party Wall Act 1996 and provision of advice & assisting with strategy in relation to other neighbourly matters. 

Responsibilities 

  • Reviewing drawings, identifying Party Wall notifiable works, preparing & issuing fee proposals;
  • Advising clients and property owners on their rights and obligations under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996;
  • Researching ownership of neighbouring interests to development sites and collating into Schedules of Adjoining Owners;
  • Preparing and serving Party Wall Letters/Notices 
  • Consistently chasing up outstanding documentation & information to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Preparing and negotiating Party Wall Awards with other surveyors;
  • Undertaking and preparing Schedules of Condition for neighbouring properties to development sites;
  • Checking off Schedules of Condition upon completion of development works
  • Reviewing damage to neighbouring properties;
  • When necessary, negotiating/agreeing damage settlements and Awards with owners and neighbouring surveyors;
  • Taking responsibility for and updating of project tracker documents throughout a project lifecycle;
  • Attending and contributing to design team meetings;
  • Creating and amending of AutoCAD drawings;
  • Reviewing and advising clients and property owners on third-party considerations such as easements, access rights, boundary issues, adverse possession etc.;
  • Assisting with the preparation of Third-Party Obligation reports;
  • Reviewing site boundaries and title documentation, considering boundary structure ownership and boundary location and plotting of accurate and geographically referenced site boundary drawings using AutoCAD.

  • Party Wall experience;
  • Experience carrying out condition surveys;
  • Hardworking and proactive approach;
  • A quick learner, willing to take notes and to refer back to these to ensure implementation;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team;
  • Good attention to detail, accuracy and diligence (particularly whilst undertaking surveys);
  • An interest and eagerness to progress one’s self personally, to attend CPD’s and to read up on the subject matter, latest case law etc.;
  • Punctual and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team;
  • Confident and clear communicator – both written and verbal;
  • Professional manner with excellent client facing skills;
  • Full UK driving licence.
