Structural Modelling Technician – London

Our clients are a leading, international multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with offices throughout the world. Due to an increase in their UK workload, they are currently looking to recruit an Intermediate level Structural Modelling Technician to join their London office.

They’re looking for a Structural Modelling Technician with a minimum of 4-6 years’ experience within the Structural Engineering sector and at least 4 years’ experience of BIM/Revit experience.

The successful candidate will be required to assist the Project BIM Lead with the ongoing development of the PIM and delivery of project deliverables under the direction of the BIM Manager, in accordance with any company and/or project specific standards and procedures. As a member of the project team you will be responsible for ensuring that the Project BIM Execution Plan is adhered to and that all related BIM activities are carried out as instructed. Furthermore you will be expected to actively engage with the project team and collaborate with other disciplines leads to ensure that all models are fit for purpose and accurately coordinated throughout the duration of the project.

 

Responsibilities to include:

- Work with minimal supervision in defined areas of responsibility

- Direct and Supervise other technician activities as required

- Ensure company and/or project specific standards are adhered to and standard methods and procedures are followed.

- Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others’ work

- Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines

- Responsible for defined parts of external design projects

- Responsible for the development of others, providing guidance, training and feedback

- Participate in BIM initiatives and assist with the ongoing development of Digital Engineering

- Monitor model aggregation and hierarchy and, when necessary, refine work sharing procedures

- Manage and document the IE process

- Create, modify and review 3D models using CAD applications (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, 3D Studio Max)

- Produce models, layouts, detailed drawings and schedules

 

Requirements:

- Industry relevant Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualification

- Minimum 4-6 years’ experience within Structural Engineering

- Minimum of 4 years’ experience of BIM/Revit

- Excellent communication skills

- Demonstrate capability and experience in managing and performing projects in a fast-paced environment

- Able to identify and solve problems in a creative and timely manner

- Proficient in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks

- Familiar with 3rd part BIM applications

- Overarching knowledge of Architecture and Building Engineering/Services design

- Understanding of Phase Planning, Cost Estimation and Facilities and Asset Management, BIM integration and data management
