Leading supplier of valuation and surveying services working nationally are looking for a Technical Director to join their team. 

This is a fully remote role but you will be required to travel to the East Midlands for meetings on a regular basis. You will be holding a senior role leading the compliance team and will provide experience guidance and advice on valuation and surveying matters to the specialist team, colleagues, valuers, lenders and third parties.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Implementing, maintaining and being responsible for Quality Control and Risk Management procedures
  • Providing practical support to the CEO when needed, including contributing to the  operational management of the business.
  • Reviewing, updating, and maintaining Gateway’s Quality Control and Risk Management System to ensure it complies with all RICS and Client requirements 
  • Maintaining a close check on audits and ensuring that corrective actions from Audits are identified, implemented, and documented
  • Undertaking (or delegating) 100% initial audit of all new surveyors. Identifying any risk areas and agreeing / managing further training and support in association with the Operations Director
  • Where elevated risk is perceived (whether with existing or new surveyors), conduct or arrange through the Operations Director joint property inspections, assessing on-site inspection procedure, detail/legibility of field notes and quality/accuracy of reporting
  • Handling day to day technical / operational queries from surveyors
  • Reviewing escalated PVQ’s when needed 
  • Conducting or organising initial PI insurance re-inspections in accordance with documented practice in relation to claims handling
  • Managing claims process and liaising with external parties where required
  • Managing and maintaining the company ISO accreditation
  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, actively contribute to the operational efficiency of the business, with particular emphasis on measures to ensure quality of product and reduction  /elimination of risk
  • Remain aware and up to date with developments in the survey and valuation industry and allied areas, e.g. RICS, new legislation, taxation, and housing policies 

The ideal candidate

  • Qualified Residential Chartered Surveyor with previous experience working in a senior role
  • Fellow or Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Proven relevant experience and full CPD record or evidence of CPD record to date
  • Knowledge of RICS Red Book requirements as applicable to residential valuations and surveys
  • Detailed understanding of RICS Guidance Notes and Practice Statements as applicable to residential valuations and surveys
  • Awareness of key issues and challenges facing the residential valuation and survey industry
  • Good working knowledge of lenders’ policies, guidance notes and reporting requirements
  • Experience leading teams and building strong relationships across teams and different business areas
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of supplier/customer relationship management
  • Able to establish and maintain professional credibility, authority and knowledge sharing. Promoting understanding by advising and training colleagues on complex matters
