Our client, an established Water Treatment and Water Hygiene company, is looking to recruit an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer / Legionella Risk Assessor to cover contracts throughout the North East and North Yorkshire.
Ideally, candidates will be based somewhere along the A1(M) corridor between Harrogate and Darlington, although applications from experienced candidates outside this area will also be considered.
This is a varied role combining hands-on Water Hygiene duties with Legionella Risk Assessments across a range of commercial and industrial sites.
The Role
- The successful candidate will carry out a broad range of Water Hygiene and Legionella compliance duties, including:
- Cooling tower cleaning and disinfection
- Cold Water Storage Tank cleaning and disinfection
- Water system disinfection
- L8 compliance monitoring
- Hot and cold water temperature monitoring
- Water sampling
- TMV servicing and fail-safe testing
- Showerhead and hose cleaning, descaling and disinfection
- Cold Water Storage Tank inspections
- Calorifier inspections
- Flushing of little-used outlets
- General Water Hygiene monitoring and compliance duties
- Completing site logbooks and electronic service reports
- Liaising professionally with customers and site representatives
- The position will also involve carrying out Legionella Risk Assessments on simple hot and cold domestic water systems, including:
- Surveying hot and cold water systems
- Identifying potential Legionella risks and areas of non-compliance
- Producing water system schematics
- Compiling comprehensive Risk Assessment reports
- Providing appropriate recommendations for remedial and compliance works
- Working in accordance with ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within the Water Hygiene / Legionella industry
- Experience carrying out cooling tower and tank cleans
- Strong knowledge of routine L8 monitoring and Water Hygiene compliance
- Experience with water sampling and TMV servicing
- Minimum 2 years' experience carrying out Legionella Risk Assessments
- Experience assessing simple hot and cold domestic water systems
- Relevant Legionella Risk Assessment qualifications
- Good working knowledge of ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580
- Ability to produce accurate reports and water system schematics
- Good communication and customer-facing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Full UK Driving Licence
