We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Water Treatment company that is looking to appoint an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its engineering team covering Bristol and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience across water treatment equipment, reverse osmosis, softeners, filtration and deionisation systems who is looking for a varied field-based position.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and fault diagnosis of a wide range of water treatment and purification equipment.
You will work across both proprietary and third-party systems, providing technical support to customers and ensuring equipment operates efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards.
Equipment and systems will include:
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems
- Water softeners
- Deionisation systems
- Filtration systems
- UV systems
- Pumps, valves and control equipment
- Chemical dosing and associated consumables
- Pure and ultra-pure water distribution systems
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and commissioning of new water treatment and purification equipment
- Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
- Mechanical and electrical fault finding
- Diagnosis and repair of equipment breakdowns
- Commissioning and fault finding on electrical control panels
- Working with PLC and HMI-controlled systems
- Electrical and mechanical assembly
- System sterilisation and disinfection
- Providing technical advice and support to customers
- Completing service documentation and reports
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant health, safety and water regulations
Technical Experience
Ideally, you will have practical experience working with a range of the following:
Reverse Osmosis
- Single and twin-pass RO systems
- CIP systems
- Pre-filtration equipment
Water Softeners & Filtration
- Simplex, duplex and triplex water softeners
- Salt saturators and brine systems
- Activated carbon filters
- Multimedia filtration
- Organic scavengers
- Iron and nitrate removal systems
- Backwashable filtration equipment
Deionisation & Pure Water
- Mixed-bed exchange cylinders
- Regeneratable DI systems
- Single, two-bed and three-bed systems
- Raw and pure water storage tanks
- Ring mains and pure/ultra-pure water distribution systems
Pumps & Controls
- Pumps, valves and level control systems
- Control panel commissioning and fault finding
- PLC and HMI systems
- Electrical systems including 12/24 VDC and 24/110/240/415 VAC
Additional experience with UV systems, pH correction, effluent recycling and chemical dosing systems would also be advantageous.
Equipment Knowledge
Experience with some of the following manufacturers would be beneficial:
- Valves: Fleck, Siata, Autotrol, Gemu and Osmonic
- Pumps: Grundfos, Lowara, Ebara, Prominent and LMI
- Pipework: GF, TP and Durapipe ABS/PVC systems
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous field engineering experience within the Water Treatment or Water Purification industry
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience servicing and commissioning water treatment equipment
- Good understanding of relevant water regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience handling treatment chemicals in accordance with COSHH
- Good communication and customer-facing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a field-based workload
- Full UK driving licence
