We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of an established Water Treatment and Water Hygiene division.
This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional with strong technical knowledge of water management services and a proven ability to develop long-term client relationships across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and public-sector environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying new opportunities, developing high-quality proposals, and working closely with technical teams to deliver compliant and effective solutions to clients nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Sales
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities within the Water Treatment and Water Hygiene sectors
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to consistently achieve and exceed revenue targets
- Prepare and deliver tailored proposals, tenders, and presentations
- Conduct market research to monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
- Client Relationship Management
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders including Facilities Managers, Engineering teams, and Procurement professionals
- Lead client meetings, site surveys, and technical discussions to fully understand project requirements
- Provide ongoing support to existing clients to maximise retention and identify upselling opportunities
- Technical & Compliance
- Work closely with technical and operational teams to design effective and compliant solutions
- Maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards, including ACoP L8, HSG 274, and BS 8580
- Ensure all proposed solutions meet regulatory and internal quality standards
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, and technical teams to support service delivery and solution development
- Produce regular reports covering sales activity, forecasting, pipeline status, and market insights
- Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities
- Skills & Experience Required
- Proven track record in business development or technical sales within Water Treatment, Water Hygiene, Environmental Services, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of Legionella control, water treatment processes, and compliance frameworks
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret technical information and present clear, client-focused solutions
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and target-driven
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or technical qualification in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable)
- Industry certifications such as City & Guilds Legionella Control or Water Treatment training
