Our client is a leading FM Company that is looking to recruit a Water Treatment Engineer to cover Somerset region.

For the position of Specialist Water Treatment Engineer you will be required to carry out a range of water treatment remedial works such as closed system dosing, risk assessment and actions, and all general water treatment and hygiene tasks. Plumbing experience is required to carry out small jobs and to be able to provide parts lists for quotes. Provide full reports and be able to discuss results with the client and solutions for any faults found. As part of the critical team you will be required to plan in work direct with site and be first line of contact, you will also need to complete RAM’s for works being completed and raise quotes from recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out general PPM/Reactive water treatment work as required.
  • Cooling tower and tank cleaning
  • Acid de-scaling and inspecting of cooling towers and calorifiers.
  • Plumbing jobs such as dead leg removal, mains conversions and pipe alterations.
  • Able to complete small retail L8 water risk assessments.
  • Sampling procedures
  • Shower chlorination’s
  • Weekend works will be required from time to time so must be able to work weekends.
  • Experience in planning in works with both engineers and clients.
  • Knowledge of writing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Must be good at paperwork and have a good understanding of log books.
  • Must be a team player but also be able work on their own
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Undertake site surveys for the production of Legionella Risk Assessments ACoP L8, HSG 274, HTM:04 01, Water Regulations and BS 8580
  • Generate associated detailed end reports including recommendations for remediation including budget costs and site specific control schemes
  • Undertake monitoring and maintenance of building water services as part of a Legionella Control Program in accordance with ACoP L8 and HSG 274
  • The monitoring inspections will involve temperature testing of water outlets, TMVs, inspection of cold water storage tanks and hot water storage vessels, water sample collection, showerhead disinfection, risk assessment review and logbook auditing
  • The maintenance tasks will include plumbing repairs, alterations and installation works associated domestic hot & cold water systems
  • Conduct Quality Assurance checks on final client reports
  • The inspections will be undertaken using a PDA/tablet and web based electronic log book system

 

Experience Required:

  • Demonstrate previous experience in water system remediation/maintenance works
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the respective legislation and guidance material (HSC ACoP L8, HSG 274, Water Regulations)
  • Clean Driving Licence Desirable
  • Demonstrate a C&G or WMS Legionella Awareness Qualification or other 3rd Party accredited training (can be provided)
  • Previous experience in the maintenance, servicing and testing of Chemical Water Treatment systems
  • Significant experience in providing water treatment, remediation and water related maintenance to include fault finding, maintenance and installation on commercial properties.
  • Experience of working under strict Health & Safety procedures including Safe systems of Works (SSOW) Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Working knowledge of the respective legislation and guidance material (HSC ACoP L8, HSG 274, and Water Regulations).
  • Experience in the maintenance, servicing and testing of Chemical Water Treatment systems and ideally a knowledge of Cooling Towers.
